How to teach the Arabic alphabet: The letter س

The Arabic letter “س” is the twelfth letter in the alphabet. Its distinctive, hissing sound makes it quite different from other letters and thus easy to recognize both in speech and in writing.

Items needed:

  • Paper plate
  • Colouring pens/pencils
  • Scissors
  • Jewel stickers
  • Lollipop stick
  • Glue
  1. Cut the paper plate into two semi circles (so half)
  2. Use one half to create the boat hull/body – the second half can be used to create a sail (cut a triangle) and a fish
  3. Decorate the boat and fish, write the letter س on the sail (decorate the letter with jewel stickers)
  4. Stick everything together using glue all while repeating the word ( سفينة safeenah)
