The Arabic letter ذ is pronounced dh like the English word “other” or “the” with the tongue between the teeth.
it’s important to distinguish the letter ذ from the letter د for a child. Yes, the dot distinguishes but for a child it’s always fun to use something with dots like (thuratun) or sweetcorn. For younger ones you’re welcome to use the colouring sheet to use popcorn kernals.
Items required:
- Yellow card glued into the shape of a tube or a painted toilet roll tube
- Popcorn kernals
- Green card cut in the shape of leaves
- PVA glue
- Stick the leaves onto the sweetcorn tube
- Use PVA glue to the sweetcorn – do this 1 kernel at a time to emphasise the dot on the ذ
