How to teach the Arabic alphabet: The letter ز

Arabic alphabet “ز” (Zayn) is the eleventh letter in the Arabic alphabet and is known for being unique both in shape and pronunciation. This letter is a voiced sound, almost like the “Z” in English.

Items needed:

  • Paper plate (yellow or coloured yellow)
  • Brown/yellow paper or card
  • Googly eyes
  • Brown colouring pens/paint/paint stick
  1. Paint/colour the plate yellow, add brown splotches in a giraffe pattern
  2. Cut out nose, ears and eyes from the card (googly eyes can be used)
  3. Glue them on the plate repeating the Arabic word for giraffe (zarafatun or zarafa)
